CABE Professional Development Services (PDS), in collaboration with the Department of Secondary Education in the College of Education at California State University, Fullerton, announces the first annual Orange County Dual Immersion Institute for both elementary and secondary teachers, as well as administrators.
The presenters, all recognized experts in the field, include Silvia Dorta-Duque de Reyes, Elizabeth Jiménez Salinas, Dr. Kris Nicholls, María Capdevila, Jordi Solsana, and Dr. Fernando Rodríguez-Valls.
The institute, which will take place at CSU Fullerton on September 25, 2015 will be conducted entirely in Spanish with the goal of helping participants develop and refine their academic Spanish, as well as their students’ academic Spanish. Participants will also: 1) acquire new instructional techniques and strategies, 2) receive instructional resources, 3) design lessons that include the ELA, ELD, and SLD (Spanish Language Development) Standards, and 4) network with colleagues from other school districts who teacher in dual immersion programs.
