After several months of planning and preparation, a committee of volunteers from across San Diego County and beyond hosted a fabulously festive Tardeada at Ranchito Alfaro in Escondido, the beautiful residence of San Diego State University professor, Dr. Cristina Alfaro, her husband, Tony and her daughter, Andrea.
Over 100 advocates donated for the event that featured a mountain of donated food and desserts; live entertainment and dancing, compliments of José Pulido and The South Bay Band; a volunteer-hosted bar with beer, wine and sangría; a silent auction of dozens of donated items that included a week at a villa in Greece, a two-night stay at the Inn at the Park in San Diego, a free CABE 2017 conference registration, wall art, books, wine basket, Yoga lessons, credit report clean-up, folkloric art and clothing, handmade jewelry and ceramics; —and even complimentary valet parking provided by volunteers coordinatedby the aforementioned Tony “Parking” Alfaro.
The event raised over $7,000 which was donated to the CABE Political Action Committee (PAC) to support the Yes! on 58 campaign A slideshow was continuously running during the event to thank sponsors and inform attendees about the benefits of Prop 58 LEARN.
